Chicago Agency Releases 2007 Fall, Holiday Film Schedule

The following information on fall and holiday 2007 film releases has been provided to me as of Oct. 12. As there are two Chicago agencies, please note this only comprises a portion of all upcoming films.

Production Begins on ‘Burn After Reading’ From Joel, Ethan Coen

On Aug. 30, I heard word that production has begun in New York City for Focus Features and Working Title Films on the film “Burn After Reading” from Joel and Ethan Coen.

They are writing, producing and directing. “Burn After Reading,” which is a dark spy comedy that will also shoot in Washington, D.C., stars George Clooney, Brad Pitt, John Malkovich and Frances McDormand.

Focus Features, Rogue Pictures and Working Title Films are part of NBC Universal, which was formed in May 2004 by combining NBC and Vivendi Universal Entertainment.

Rogue Pictures Releases New Video Clip From ‘Balls of Fury’

Rogue Pictures has released to ComingSoon.net a new clip from its upcoming film “Balls of Fury,” which is being tagged “a big comedy with tiny balls”. The ping-pong film opens everywhere on Aug. 29.

In Response to Comic-Con, Rogue Pictures Advances Release of ‘Balls of Fury’ to Aug. 29

Rogue Pictures on Monday said it has changed its release date of “Balls of Fury” from Friday, Aug. 31 to Wednesday, Aug. 29 due to “rousing response” from Comic-Con.

The move is designed to allow the film to make more money.

“Balls of Fury” writer/director Robert Ben Garant and writer/co-star Thomas Lennon hyped it at Comic-Con while Rogue “blanketed [attendees] with ... men’s briefs and state-of-the-art paddles”.

The finished film was screened in its entirety for the Comic-Con audience.

“When we saw how well the movie played at Comic-Con, we realized there’s even more potential audience ... if we open a couple days earlier,” said Jack Foley, president of theatrical distribution for Rogue.

He added in the statement: “We will have the equivalent of two days of sneak previews and word of mouth as we head into the lucrative Labor Day holiday weekend play period.”
