Original Silent Horror ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ to Show in Chicago on Oct. 29
The original silent horror “The Phantom of the Opera” will show in Chicago on Oct. 29 at 8 p.m. from the Silent Film Society of Chicago.
Lon Chaney, Mary Philbin and Norman Kerry star in the 1925 classic as part of the society’s annual Fright night event.
The showing will take place at the Portage Theater (4050 N. Milwaukee Ave.) in Chicago.
Photoplay specialist Jay Warren will provide live accompaniment at the Portage grande organ. Details can be found here.
Formed in 1998, the Silent Film Society of Chicago says it is “dedicated to the preservation and proper presentation of silent films”.
