Soundtrack to ‘Hairspray’ Now Available in Stores, Online For Pre-Order

The soundtrack to the musical comedy “Hairspray” from New Line Records is now available for pre-order at retailers everywhere and on iTunes. Its official release is scheduled for July 10.

This marks the first time iTunes has ever made a musical motion-picture soundtrack available for pre-order.

The soundtrack is produced by Marc Shaiman and features music by Shaiman and lyrics by Scott Wittman and Shaiman. It features tracks mixed by Ed Cherney, Peter Mokran and Frank Wolf. The new screenplay for “Hairspray” was written by Leslie Dixon.

Sixteen years after the release of the original film, New Line Cinema is bringing a feature-film adaptation of the Broadway production to life. “Hairspray” is scheduled for release on July 20.
