The 13 other Springfields that lost out will see a screening of their own the night before the movie hits theaters on July 27. The filmmakers said in a statement: “It’s a futile attempt to prove that Hollywood has a heart.”
The 14 participating Springfields were: Massachusetts, Missouri, Illinois, Ohio, Oregon, Tennessee, New Jersey, Florida, Michigan, Kentucky, Nebraska, Colorado, Louisiana and Vermont.
Each participating Springfield submitted a film three to five minutes in length to showcase its Simpson spirit.
