Reader Submits Full Coverage of ‘The Dark Knight’ Memorial Service on Aug. 24
“Melrose Park Patti and Bill” have submitted to me full coverage of “The Dark Knight” memorial service on Friday, Aug. 24. I asked them for a description and photos to help you capture a sense of the scene.
11:16 a.m. update on 8/27/07: Here is another report on the day from a different vantage point.
We saw them set up around 7:30 a.m. [on Aug. 24] for a memorial service for the police commissioner.
When they were ready to start to film, the streets were cleared of onlookers. There were a lot of police extras there. It was very hard to see from a block away.
This part was filmed right in front of the Chicago Board of Trade. We left and came back around 11:30 a.m. We walked around to the back of the set where people were allowed to stand.
They were very strict on no pictures. We saw Gary Oldman. The police horses were there (actual horses from a Wisconsin stable) and there were police for a 21-gun salute.
They broke for lunch around noon.
